Overview
Realism Mats is a high-end resource pack designed to push Minecraft's engine to its visual limits. It uses professionally captured textures, 3D scans, and custom sculpting to replace default blocks with high-detail surfaces that look and feel tactile.
Features
- Full PBR (Physically Based Rendering) support for realistic light reflections on surfaces.
- Custom 3D-sculpted models for natural blocks like stone, dirt, and bark.
- High-detail specular mapping for realistic wetness and metallic effects.
- Optimized for ray-tracing shaders like SEUS PTGI and Nostalgia.
- Advanced depth maps (POM) that make flat surfaces look three-dimensional.
Resolution and Performance
This pack is available in multiple resolutions to suit different hardware setups. The 64x version is designed for general playability, while the 256x, 512x, and 1024x versions are meant for high-end systems and cinematic screenshots. Because of the high-resolution textures and PBR data, you will see a performance hit compared to vanilla; a dedicated GPU is highly recommended.
Requirements
- Minecraft Java Edition: Supports versions 1.12 up to 1.20+.
- Optifine or Iris: Required for the custom textures and shaders to work properly.
- Shaders: Best used with SEUS PTGI or any lab-PBR compliant shader pack to enable the lighting and depth effects.
Development
The textures in this pack are created using a mix of photography, 3D sculpting in Mudbox, and texture painting in Photoshop. It is an ongoing project focused on updating all environmental blocks to a photo-realistic standard.
