    Overview

xali's Enhanced Vanilla is a resource pack focused on cleaning up the default Minecraft look without changing the art style. The goal is to make the world feel more natural through improved transitions and better models while keeping the "vanilla" feel intact.

    Features

    • Connected Textures: Smoother transitions for blocks like paths, gravel, and ores so they don't look like repetitive grids.
    • Bushy Leaves: Adds extra 3D layers to leaf blocks for a denser, more realistic forest look.
    • Biome Variations: Foliage and grass colors shift slightly depending on the biome to add variety.
    • Custom Barrels: You can change the appearance of barrels by renaming them in an anvil. This supports layering, so you can combine different labels or visuals on a single block.
    • Improved Models: Subtle 3D tweaks to various blocks and items to give them more depth.

    Technical Requirements

    Required Settings

To see the connected textures and custom item features, you need to use a mod that supports them. If you use Optifine, ensure these settings are toggled:

    • Video Settings > Quality > Connected Textures: Fancy
    • Video Settings > Quality > Custom Entity Models: ON
    • Video Settings > Quality > Custom Items: ON

If you are on Fabric or Quilt, you should install Continuity and CIT Resewn to get the same visual effects.

    Resolution & Performance

This pack is 16x16, the same as default Minecraft. You shouldn't see any noticeable drop in FPS, though the bushy leaves may have a tiny impact on very low-end systems due to the extra geometry.

    Compatibility

Works with most modern versions of Minecraft. Since it mostly uses default filenames, it is generally compatible with other packs as long as you place this one at the top of your resource pack list. It is designed to be used as a base for my other specific "addon" packs.
