Overview
Icons is a resource pack that cleans up the Minecraft UI by replacing standard text strings with descriptive textures. Instead of reading "Chest" or "Enchantment Table" at the top of every menu, you’ll see a clean icon representing that block or action. It works across almost every interface, item tooltip, and menu in the game.
Features
- GUI Headers: Container titles like chests, furnaces, and hoppers are replaced with unique icons.
- Item Tooltips: Adds visual indicators for food saturation, armor points, and weapon damage directly in the hover text.
- Potion & Effect Icons: Tipped arrows, potions, and suspicious stews show their specific effects visually.
- Enchantment Indicators: Each enchantment has a unique icon next to its name for faster identification in books and gear.
- Menu Navigation: Game settings and main menu buttons feature stylized icons alongside or in place of text.
- Numerical Badges: Potion potency and enchantment levels use a custom badge system for better readability.
Customization
If you use the Respackopts mod, you can toggle specific icon categories on or off depending on your preference. This is useful if you only want menu icons but want to keep vanilla text for enchantments.
Resolution
This pack is designed to match the vanilla 16x16 aesthetic. It uses custom Unicode characters and language file overrides, meaning there is zero impact on your FPS or game performance.
Compatibility
- Versions: Supports most modern versions of Minecraft Java Edition.
- Other Packs: Ensure Icons is placed at the very top of your Resource Packs list to work correctly.
- Fonts: May conflict with other packs that significantly change the default Minecraft font.
- Settings: Ensure "Force Unicode Font" is set to OFF in your Language settings for the icons to render properly.
Usage Tips
To use the pack, just move it into your resourcepacks folder and activate it in-game. Because it relies on language files, it works best when your game language is set to English, though many translations are supported by the community. You do not need any specific mods to run the base version, though it is compatible with many UI-enhancing mods.
